The Picture Gallery
Johann Caspar Goethe collected paintings by contemporary Frankfurt artists who followed the Dutch tradition (Trautmann, Schütz the Elder, Juncker, Hirt, Nothnagel, Morgenstern), and by the Darmstadt court painter Seekatz. Uniformly framed in black and gold, the pictures cover the walls in symmetrical formation.
