Johann Georg Trautmann: Joseph receiving his Brothers in Egypt
During his billeting in the Goethe family house, the French governor Thoranc had Frankfurt painters work for him in the mansard. Goethe tells of having watched Johann Georg Trautmann sketching his "Joseph Cycle". Trautmann's pictures of the story of Joseph from the Old Testament have now returned from Thoranc's estate to their place of origin.
